Way behind

I was doing just fine, then SPLAT, I suddenly start to enjoy my summer vacation. So, I haven't written anything in what? a week. I have a fantastic story going on, and I just can't get a single word on paper (or computer, to be specific)! Help me.

I mean, I'm not such a loser, I already have 45000 words all together, but I've only written about 18000 of it during July. How can I get myself to write again!??

Anyone have the same problem?

Yes, I have the same problem. And I just try to write anything. even if its crap. that makes me want to write non-crap, and i go back to it on a slow day where there's not a party or something going on. And good novels aren't written, they're re-written. Try to get something down this month and remember that you're giving yourself a foundation to really flesh your story out, which will take a while.

Set aside maybe an hour or two a night and make yourself write.

I've been so busy and I'm lagging so bad. We'll see how I do in the end.

Yeah, I totally understand. I'm having a super busy July, working almost 40 hours a week and hanging out with friends and family. I love it, but clearly my novel writing time suffers. I have a hard, hard time motivating myself to write anything after I've come home from a 10 hour day at work or a really fun party or swimming with friends.

But now I have kind of a good system going. If it's a day I worked and I dont want to write, I let myself off the hook. But if it's a day where I just want to go hang out with my friends, then I make myself write for an hour before I even start to get ready to go out. If I don't get my word count, I have to keep writing. I find the Write or Die website really useful for motivating me to type fast.

Good luck!

I'm behind too. I have to write 5,000 words a day to catch up by the time I leave in a week.

*Pushes back sleeves* Let's do this. ;)

I'm massively behind, I haven't written a thing in four days. I could feel my wrists, which are never great at the best of times, starting to die and forced myself to stop until I could hold my weight from underneath (like when you push yourself up on parallel bars) without pain. My knees are already mangled, I could do without adding wrists to the problem.
Leo: What I try to do on days I go out is get up early and write before I go out. If you set a target and don't go out until you've don eit it will force you to write faster.

I'm at 21000 words.... :crying:
Can't get myself writing anymore. Big problem is the fact that I quit writing on the story because I had no information about what I was writing about; no Internet. Sucks pretty much

I had 13K for the 16th-18th because I had a bit of writers block and just didn't want to put the time into my novel. But, yesterday was the Wriday and I managed to write 8K, ending up at 22K. I'm still behind, but I'm only 3K away from halfway through and about 8K to catch up.

Basically, you have to make the time to write, no matter how much that is. Also, speed writing takes practice, when I first started out doing writing months I couldn't write 2K in an hour with real focus and the idea was amazing to me. XD So just write and let your characters talk to you.

I started late into the month, well today actually. I probed my mind for inspiration and actually got a prologue down, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. I can always go back and edit it later, but in about an hour I got about 1300 words so I wasn't too disappointed with the beginning of today (It's 1 am :P). I also am enjoying my vacation so it's a pain and it makes me end up writing very late at night,

I missed quite a few weeks and now I'm desperately behind, as I was out of town with no access to a computer. :( (Ahh!! I'm only at 2k! GEEZ, I've been away for a while) I don't think I'll be able to finish it /this/ month, but maybe I'll be able to revisit it for Nanowrimo. But I'm going to try anyways. (:

I managed to do a similar thing! Got up to 38k by the 15th, wrote another 2k on the 19th, and hadn't written since then until today. School kept me too busy. So what WAS a task to write 12,000 words in 16 days became one to write 10,000 words in three. I seem to be pretty much on track to meet that new goal (having written 3,100 words today), so I should be able to make it. If I try.

I'm in that last-minute panic phase that I've heard so much about. Never experienced this before; I finished ScriptFrenzy ahead of time. This is harder! I'm at 41k, and it's the 31st. *rolls up sleeves* I'm staying up all night. I have an early practice tomorrow, so there's no real point in going to bed. Especially since I'm doing AugNo too. Come on people, we can do it! WRITE!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to make it. I'm more than 15k behind and with my average writing speed, even writing straight from now until midnight, I won't make 50k. Helping with summer orientation at my college with no computer access left me a week behind, and I haven't recovered.

But still, I'm almost 10k ahead of my previous WriMo best, and I'm looking forward to AugNo. This is more than I've written all year. I'm happy.

At the start of today I had 38K, which meant that I had to write 12K today. So, after many hours of writing I am now up to 43K, which means I have 7K left to write.

I'm going grocery shopping in a short while, but I plan on writing nonstop when I get home and I hope to get the 7K. *hopes that 2K an hour won't fail her now* XD
