I used it last night in Kamikaze mode but I forgot to turn off the sound so when I achieved my goal the sound came on. I think I jumped about a foot off my bed! :P

It's a really useful tool if you can't get any words out, the pressure makes you write things, even if it doesn't make any sense!

You've all reminded me that I have yet to use Write or Die on my main work in progress for JulNo :3 *goes off to do it RIGHT NOW HO SNAP*

After I say this--Kamikaze mode... is the ultimate motivational tool... because it makes me cry ;__; no joke.

I never even heard of Write or Die until I saw this thread. I just used it for a 15 minute sprint and honestly, those 15 minutes were the most productive I felt all day. I was doing so well earlier, but then I hit a point where I got distracted checking different websites, seeing how others were doing with their stories, taking naps, thinking about other stories I wanted to write, talking to family, etc... that I just stopped writing altogether.

I had used the 'gentle' mode just to ease myself/play around with the program and burst out laughing when Hanson's MmmBop blasted out. I'm like to write competitively (in the sense I like to pick a random forum member and beat their word count). And I've already told myself that even though I want to reach 50k by the end of the month, I also want to make sure I have work I'm proud of, no matter how rough it turns out (so no inching up my wordcount by pressing the spacebar)....

I'm definitely going to keep using WoD, especially for short sprints to keep me focused. :)

It definitely helped me write, but then I felt bad because I forgot to turn off the TV before I started and I felt like I was missing things and ignoring the people who are working hard to entertain me.

But at the same time I know I'll feel guilty if i watched TV while I leave my computer on, especially on Word, and I'm not typing because I feel like I'm ignoring the people I'm working so hard to create.

I'm weird like that.

The only time I ever used it was when I had to write a 'how-to' paper for English, and we were supposed to source things, so I was like: website. source. grade goes up. :D

Write or Die is definitely my new obsession. Before, I didn't even KNOW I could think/type this fast... now all the pressure is off, and all I have to worry about is having plot and not being utterly exhausted when I begin my writing session. O.o

It teaches you not to divert your concentration away from your writing. Otherwise, you waste valuable writing time. If we just proportion our time out, we won't have to put ourself in crisis mode all the time. ;)

Hehe, I just used it on the normal level. It didn't seem too bad. I try to keep my attention on my writing anyways, especially when word warring. All it did was change the background color. o__o; Does it do other things when you stop writing for long periods of time? I guess I should up the level. It's like personal word warring! I'll probably be using it again. :P

Yay! Write or die just helped me finish half a chapter in 48 minutes! I knew I loved it before, but talk about really making ya buckle down. I was terrified of having my words unwritten. Forget gentle and strict. I have to go right for the com mode. I lack THAT much diciplin. Go WOD!

I loveeeeee WoD! I can average about 400 words per 10 min session, so I just do a few of those each day and POOF! Word count accepted. :)

I'm psyching myself to go in for another round. So far, to meet my WriDay goal, I've had three 30-minute increments, boosting my count by over 3k words. Almost at WriDay goal!

:] After using it a few more times {for example, on evil mode}, I can say that it is FANTASTIC! xD Got me to write 1,000 words in 13 minutes. Now if only I could do that over and over and over again... xP

Used WOD on Normal/Strict today. Liked it, loved it, wrote a lot.

However, I momentarily forgot that I wasn't in Word, and that the keystrokes did not behave in the same way. I'm not even sure what I did, some shortcut maybe, alt-something or other. Anyway, about three paragraphs vanished in an instant, and evidently there is no Undo in WOD.

I'll use it again, because it is a wonderful tool. But I will use with caution. Lesson learned.

yeah, the html doesn't work. i was gonna say that the gentle mode worked well. i can type as fast as i want to, but the problem for me is word quality. i always feel self-conscious about what i write. when i write fast, i write in a chatty tone that i really don't want to use for a book twith a lot of sadness and drama in the middle. but it was fun.

I love it. It kills and logic or decency my writing had, but it gets the words out, and that's basically my philosophy when I write. Get the draft down, edit the quality into it later.
