Ninja's burst into a library to grab the book out of the MC's hand.

Bonus points if the Ninja's also kidnap the MC.

Extra bonus points if the book starts with the words "It was a dark and stormy night...".

I love the comfort food one. And I would do the dark and stormy night, but mine starts out as "once upon a time..."
I dare you to have a character that ends most of their sentences with prepositions. :P

I dare someone to have a character (important or not) shout out, "THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE!" and then have some great misfortune happen to him.

Bonus points if they die.

Extra bonus points if the character was important.

I think I did that one in a story I wrote when I was around 11. It actually turned out fairly well. God got mad at the way the characters behaved and destroyed the world. Then God's mother told God it was time to come inside and leave the toys behind.

Leaving the following dares:
  • Have a character who appears to have everything in her bag. When someone asks for dental floss, she has it. Need a torque wrench? She's got it. $5.39 in nickels and pennies? No problem. However, when she needs to show her ID, it turns out she doesn't carry it with her. BP if her reason is that she's afraid of being identified, despite her very identifiable bag.
  • Include a character who is allergic to water.

Ooh! The allergic to water one is perfect! I'll take it.

Dare: Have a character who does nothing but stand to the side, occasionally nodding or shaking his head. The MC thinks that this person is extremely important, but in all actuality, that character has nothing to do with the plot.

Bonus Points: You can justify this.

Dare: If you have a humongous character death scene, leave the part where the character dies as a cliffhanger. In the next scene, have a deus ex machina save that character. Then, have the deus ex machina turn out to be a hallucination and the character dies as intended.

Leaving: Chatacter is always hyper even when he/she is depressed.

EBP If said character steals hat in the middle of the objest throwing
EBP if character keeps hat through attempts made to get it back;P

(I've actually done this many times in real life minus the object throwing.... sometimes)

Swear to God, the first two sentences of my just-(self-)published 2008 NaNo novel are "It was a dark and stormy night in London, England. So thank God this story takes place in a small town in central Virginia, where it was in fact a stark and dormy night."

Corrupted_Apple, I'm taking that stationary one.

Okay, let's see what I've got:

DARE: Have a character who collects something obscure.
-> Bonus points if it has no actual value.
--> Double bonus points if it's something like used toothpicks or cigarette butts from restaurants around the country.
---> Triple bonus points if the character keeps trying to get other people to help with his/her collection.
----> Quadruple bonus points if it's your MC.

DARE: Have a character who plays DDR.
-> Bonus points if s/he plays more than three times a week.
--> Double bonus points if the people around him/her tease him/her for it.
---> Triple bonus points if s/he leaves in the middle of an important scene to play DDR.
----> Quadruple bonus points if it comes in handy.

DARE: Have a recurring character whose sole line is "Yo soy el leche."
-> Bonus points if s/he says it in every scene.
--> Double bonus points if nobody speaks Spanish.
---> Triple bonus points if everyone thinks it's the answer to the major problem.

DARE: Include at least three inside jokes you have with your friends.
-> Bonus points if you include them without context.

DARE: (I stole this one from the NaNo forums, but it's good.) Invert your zip code and set your book in the city that corresponds to that zip code, or the closest city you can get if your inverted zip code doesn't exist.

DARE: Have one character who is aware that s/he is in a novel.
-> Bonus points if s/he spends the book trying to convince people they are in a book.
--> Double bonus points if s/he argues with the narrator.
---> Triple bonus points if the narrator argues back.
----> Quadruple bonus points if nobody else notices.

Ooh, I like the origami animals one :P

Leaving:

-Have a character who always says sayings whenever your MC does something wrong i.e. 'There's no use crying over split milk' etc.
BP: When a saying is directed at them, they have no idea what it means and have never heard of it.

-A character that always looks off in the distance whenever anyone is speaking as if they're thinking about something of the upmost importance. When asked what they're looking at they say 'nothing'.
BP: If they spot some kind of danger, but nobody takes notice. V.boy-who-cried-wolf-esque.

DARE: Have your characters play a fictional card game.
-> Bonus points if it's a game they made up.
--> Double bonus points if you never actually explain the rules.
---> Triple bonus points if you know the rules anyway.

Leaving:

Kill off the main character half-way through the story and have a very minor character take over.

Include a lamp (or some other object) in the story and have one of your characters comment on it and/or think about it periodically.
+Bonus if it has nothing to do with the plot at all.
++Bonus if you can make it make sense anyway.
