Recommended Sites for Fun

Separate from the writing-help sites, because these ones are just for fun. ;) The following is what I do online when I get bored (or just what I do online):

LiveJournal.com, which is no surprise. I spend way too much time on this site, and I've been a user since July 31, 2002 (I joined on Harry Potter's birthday! My first post actually mentions this!) I use Lj rather than other blogging communities because of, well, the community. I've yet to find another site that has such a great group of active users and communities.
-Statements. The single requirement for this community is that a single post can contain nothing more than a single declarative sentence (ending in a period: there are spin-offs for questions and exclamations). You'd be amazed what some people can say in that limit.
-Metaquotes is always good for a laugh (or several), and sometimes for some deep thinking. You never know what you'll find.
-Scans_Daily is the community for comic book lovers. Be warned, though: if you're not a fan of slash and can't ignore it (and innuendo), this probably isn't the community for you. If you flame slash, you'll get flamed. ;)

Questionable Content is quite possibly one of the best webcomics I've ever come across. I found it yesterday via a link in a blog, and I spent several hours reading through the entire archive. I laughed out loud a lot of times.

Ctrl-Alt-Del is another webcomic I enjoy, even though it's mostly focused on gamer humor and the most advanced piece of gaming equipment I've ever used is a GameBoy Color. ^__^

OnPoint! The Cedar Point Blog is pretty awesome, though if you're not familiar with Cedar Point (an amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, home to 16 roller coasters and 68 rides overall), you probably won't find much of interest here. If you are, however, you'll enjoy getting a peek into the workings of the park, and the roller coasters.

Wil Wheaton's Blog. Remember Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation? Well, forget about him. Wil Wheaton is a real guy, with a real family, real problems, and a real talent for writing.

Orisinal, an online game site, is addicting. There are quite a lot of games to choose from, though my favorite is floats.

Speaking of games, I (evilly) introduce you to PopCap Games, home of some of the most addicting games you'll ever play. My personal favorites are Bejeweled 2, Chuzzle, Zuma, and Feeding Frenzy 2. I should warn you: You won't want to be on this site next month. It'll devour literal hours of free time. :X

So now share some of your favorites. :D

edited for my inability to adapt to BBCode. ^^;

Hmm... I used to have a Xanga, and I would have to say that it is a great blogging community as well. But, uh, I deleted my account last weekend because I got tired of updating it. Well, I like my journals to be personal.

Cedar Point... I might have heard of that place. I live in Pennsylvania, so I'm probably not all that far away from there! How come I haven't been there?!

I don't know, but you should totally find a way to go. It is most excellent, to the point where I shelled out $100 for a season pass this year. XD

For the Disney and/or Pixar fans:

I live on my livejournal and facebook most of the time...

but also, there's http://www.pogo.com [i don't know how to link and am far too lazy to learn at this insanely late hour] which has gobs of games, including some of the popcap games.

Edit: added http:// in front of the link--it makes it clickable

Oh yeah, can't forget facebook. I like it a lot better now that they added the mobile thing - I can keep track of things a lot better. ^^;

One thing I'll never understand though: the popularity of MySpace. Urgh.

Haha, I have a MySpace. I don't use it much anymore, but when half the school has one, you're tempted to try it out, too. At least I was.

I have a Facebook, but use that even less often than MySpace. I was happy when they combined the high school and college people together, though.

I have one too, but only used it once - when SixApart (the company that owns LiveJournal) suffered a DoS attack. ;) My spam count for the e-mail address I used to register also skyrocketed. :P

I have a MySpace, but I dont use it...to many creepy randoms wanting to see pictures.
Possibly another case of legalised porn.

I've finally started using my LJ again. It's fun, and now I'm hooked. :D Haha

These ones are just really fun to watch... they're mesmerizing.

Also, YouTube is a great place to browse/search around when you're really bored and can't think of anything to do. There are episodes of so many tv shows and pieces of movies, and trailers, and just amusing videos. Good stuff.

Ahh facebook. It eats your soul. I'm always on it (much as I am starting to be with these forums)

As for fun websites, there is always:

http://www.addictinggames.com -- lots of free games to play from action to puzzle to just plain weird
http://devilspanties.keenspot.com -- a webcomic I highly enjoy. It's updated daily so there is always something new.
http://www.overheardinnewyork.com -- actual things people have overheard in NYC. You would not believe the things some people actually say :P
http://www.overheardintheoffice.com -- the sister site of overheard in NY, actual things people have overheard in the office
http://www.waiterrant.net -- A really funny commentary of the world from the eyes of a waiter
http://www.redroseriot05.deviantart.com -- a shameless plug for my own artwork :P
