Quotations~~

I collect quotations in my journals and I find them pretty cool. They can be silly, motivating, inspiring or ridiculous.
Sometimes, I have one as a title and I just write about it, my thoughts, opinions or whatever.
I even received a quotations book as a gift from a staff Secret Santa.

Does anyone have any favourites?

I know a couple that I like:

"If you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best." -unknown
"The key to individuality is to get rid of that 'I'm afraid oflooking stupid' line of thought." -unknown

Yay! Quotes! :D

"You can lead a horse of a different colour to water, but he's still a horse." (I forget who said this. I have a hunch, though, that it was Lucy from a Peanuts comic)

“A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.” (Again, no idea who said this)

"Only two things are Infinite: The Universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not convinced about the Universe." -- Albert Einstien

"Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you." -- Unknown

"Out of everything I've lost, I miss my mind the most." -- Unknown (again!)

Hehe, I've been collecting these in an entry at LiveJournal for awhile, so I have a few:

A lady came up to me on the street and pointed to my suede jacket. "You know a cow was murdered for that jacket?" she sneered. I replied in a psychotic tone, "I didn't know there were any witnesses. Now I'll have to kill you too."
-Jack Johanson

No one dies a virgin, Life screws us all.
-Michael J. Trent

"few can foresee whither their road will lead them, til they come to its end"
-Legolas, Lord of the Rings

"Dreams aren't meant to be understood, any more than tragedy can be averted. Life happens to us. We learn to be grateful when things are good and, and to count our blessings when things are bad. And the only certainty in all of it is that it all just keeps happening."
-Dr. Harold Abbot, Everwood

Add it all up and it spells 'duh'
-unknown

"Could you please continue the petty bickering? I find it most intriguing."
-Data (Star Trek: The Next Generation)

Life never gives you all the good stuff at once and if it did – you should be very suspicious.
-alt_rorschach (at LiveJournal)

Those are just the favorites I have at hand. ;)

Some favorite song lyrics:

We're talking about things,
Interesting just slightly,
And things that matter too much,
Too say any way but lightly.
-Vienna Teng, "Daughter"

Just because I'm sorry
Doesn't mean
I didn't enjoy it
At the time.
-Snow Patrol, "Chocolate"

All that I am,
All that I ever was,
Is here in your perfect eyes,
They're all I can see.
I don't know where,
Confused about how as well,
I just know that these things
Will never change for us at all
-Snow Patrol, "Chasing Cars"

Freedom is being alone,
I fear liberation.
But something more alive than silence
Swallows conversation.
No pleasing drama
In subtle averted eyes.
-Vienna Teng, "Between"

I have just met you and I love you.

Okay, I can't resist. Here are some Lost quotes:

Jin: "Everything's going to change. Have a cluckity-cluck-cluck day, Hugo."

Rousseau: "You have only three choices: run, hide, or die."

Locke: "Don't tell me what I can't do."

*snicker* I have that episode on iTunes . . . I love watching that clip. "Jin - you speak English." "No, you are speaking Korean." "Nah?"

Oh, right. Suppose I should add some quotes here. House!

-------------------------

Chris Dewey: [trying to tell an uninterested House a patient's history] "You're reading a comic book."

House: "And you're drawing attention to your bosom by wearing a low-cut top."

[she covers her chest with her clipboard]

House: "Oh, I'm sorry, I thought we were having a "state-the-obvious" contest. I'm competitive by nature."

---------------------------

House: "Her leg hurts after running six miles. Who knows? Could be anything."

"You are very squishy. So I shall name you squishy. And you shall be my little squishy." - Dory, Finding Nemo
"Commit the oldest sins, the newest kind of ways." - William Shakespeare
"There never was such a thing as a good war or bad peace." Dont know again, it's on one of my badges

Okay, i just like adding more. These are from NCIS:

Tony: It's a bikini. Two piece.
Agent Caitlin Todd: A bottom. And a hat?
Tony: Puerto Rican?
Gibbs: Any chance you're gonna try that on?
Agent Caitlin Todd: You first!
Gibbs: Trust me. Not gonna fit.
Agent Caitlin Todd: Pigs. I work with pigs.

Tony: The golf clubs belong to his RIO, LT Lynch.
Agent Caitlin Todd: RIO?
Tony: Radar Intercept Officer. Also called a GIBs, one B - short for Guy In Back.
Agent Caitlin Todd: [to Gibbs, about his name] Why do YOU need TWO Bs?
Gibbs: The second one's for bastard.

Agent Caitlin Todd: If we screw this up, I have a suggestion.
Tony: What?
Agent Caitlin Todd: We break into Gibbs's basement and we set his boat on fire.
Tony: That's cold, Kate. I knew there was a reason I liked you.

Gibbs: Have you ever made a mistake, Tony?
Tony: According to you or me?Gibby: You.
Tony: Yeah.
Gibbs: Was there anything anyone could say to make you feel better?
Tony: ...No.

Abby Sciuto: Aaaah! Gibbs! Didn't your momma teach you not to sneak up on people?
Gibbs: Obviously not.

Tony: Gibbs'll get in. He's got clearance that'll let him see the dead aliens buried in Area 51.
Agent Caitlin Todd: Because he probably killed them.

Abby Sciuto: I had this boyfriend once - not the balloon guy - but this one was like a computer genius. He put together a database of databases. I mean, it seems obvious in retrospect, like the pet rock...

Agent Caitlin Todd: All I'm saying is that... things on the surface are not always the same as when you put them in context with the way they actually developed, you know, under the surface, kinda.
Tony: I have no idea what you said.
Agent Caitlin Todd: Neither do I. But the intent was sincere.

[Tony needs a place to stay for the night]
Tony: You remember when I stayed with you that time, when it didn't really go so well?
Gibbs: Yeah. I remember, DiNozzo.
Tony: Well, listen. I was younger then. Immature, a little unfocused...
Gibbs: It was six months ago, Tony.

I've always loved that one
when i'm down and out, sometimes, i think about it

=P
it jsut takes me some time to figure out who i am letting to make me feel inferior (that was probably a poorly constructed sentence. oh well- you get my drift)

Oh I love quotes *wishes she like some of the other people on here actually wrote them down rather than just admiring them and moving on, remembering some of then partially or well enough to find again*

Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. - Albert Einstein.

I know. It's all wrong. By rights we shouldn't even be here. But we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
- Sam, The Lord of the Rings

(A rather long quote, but I just love that scene to death.)

Ok, I have no quotes but I need some.

Has anyone got anything on the topic of depression/bipolar and recovery? Doesn't have to be directly related.

E.g. I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell. I know, right now you cant tell - Rob Thomas (Unwell, Matchbox 20)

Thanks :D
