Musical motivation

Here I am on the east coast at 12:11 A.M. on July 31, 2008. With less than 24 hours left to reach the 50,000 mark, I've got my iPod plugged and packed with tunes I am hoping will inspire me to reach that deadline.

Whether you're at your goal or still reaching, the object of the game is to post the song you're listening to and the artist performing it, but you can't post two times in a row. You have to wait until someone else answers after your last post to post again.

Right now I'm listening to Dierks Bentley: Can't Live it Down...

how about you?

I guess you don't want to see my strange playlist in its full glory.
I'm listening to Josephine Baker, Don't Touch My Tomatoes. I'm trying to get up the strength to write 117 more words.

For the past two days I've had Placebo's "Running Up That Hill" on repeat. I think I can repeat the lyrics in my sleep now O.o . It was the final bit of inspiration I needed to tip me over the edge.

\"6. Be crazy dumbsaint of the mind
13. Remove literary, grammatical and syntactical inhibition
29. You\'re a Genius all the time \"
-- from \"Belief & Technique for Modern Prose\", by Jack Kerouac

I have a theme for each of my main characters.

The one that was playing as I cross the finish line yesterday was The Killers' Mr Brightside. That's the kind of theme for the MC of The Shepherd, Jude.

Failing that, I had Garbage's I Think I'm Paranoid, Hey Jude by The Beatles, and Iron Maiden's Run To The Hills.

The sound works just as well as the lyrics. Music made my month. :D
