Porco Rosso!

Wow, I just saw it for the first time. Great stuff!

What do you guys think of Porco Rosso? or Studio Ghibli?

I love the backgrounds and architecture.

Any recommendations?

Never seen Porco Rosso, but I <3 Studio Ghibli. Miyazaki is my hero :)

Porco Rosso is absolutely god. I'm a longtime Miyazaki fan, approaching borderline otaku status. I have the complete Nausicaa manga in the new English edition. I also have Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away on DVD. But I still want to get Porco Rosso and Nausicaa on video too. Oh yeah, and My Neighbor Totoro.

Well so far I think I have managed to avoid integrating such things into my novel, thank goodness.

I saw Porco Rosso in a shop on Wednesday. I love Studio Ghibli, but I can't afford it, ever, unless its pre-owned and even then its still a tenner (£10) - which I can't really afford. But occasionally I find them for a fiver and I'm happy for days. Except that Spirited Away always makes me feel a little sad at the end. That heavy kind of sad.

Atonement did, too. Just inexplicably sad. Admittedly, the second time I watched Atonement I hated the film. Didn't particularly enjoy it the first time either. Beautifully shot and with a lovely twist, but that's it.

"Nausicaš of the Valley of the Wind," "Princess Mononoke," and "Howls Moving Castle" are like my holy trinity. "Spirited Away" is another great one. I haven't seen "Porco Rosso," but I'm going to add it to my Netflix queue. I love Miyazaki's visions of Europe; he manages to make European locations seem so unfamiliar.
