Oh yes -- I officially add sickness to my personal list. My jaw hurts from a sinus infection, my throat hurts from who-knows-what, and I'm getting random hot flashes every few minutes.
I'm having one now and for some reason everything apart from the computer screen seems to be turning yellow...

Books probably will, since one I want came out yesterday and I probably won't get my hands on it till July. Tennis is going to be horribly distracting since Wimbledon will still be going, then the last week of the month I'll be out of town to watch a tournament. I'll probably be distracted by myself too by wanting to randomly write NASCAR fanfics, but I'm never going to do that, I hope.

Looking out the window.

At which point, I usually discover:
1. The goats have escaped.
2. The sheep have escaped.
3. The dog has a chicken in her mouth.
OR
4. All of the above.

At which point I have to put on some shoes and deal with the situation.

Anything I can get my mind on. Cleaning my desk, cleaning the toilet, chasing my dog around to try and clip his nails, lecturing my daughter, reading the fine print on the back of my Java Monster can... you name it, it distracts me. Oh, yeah, the internet is my biggest distraction. Bad internet. Bad.

PROCRASTINATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I have to learn several pieces ( Preludes and Fugues in Bb, Dmin, and C from WTC Bk I by Bach, Mozart Sonata K.280, Brahms Rhapsody Op. 79 No. 2, Prokofiev Visions Fugitives, and Bartok Six Roumanian Folk Dances, if anyone cares ) for college. I'm also taking up juggling again.

...and he can do that, and she can do this, and he can react like that, and she can slap him, and he can yell at her, and then a dead body can come crashing through the ceiling... yippee! XD

I also live with my fiancé, and while he tries to be considerate of my writing time, there are some things he just doesn't get. The absolute worst is when I'm sitting on the couch with my laptop and he comes and sits right up next to me, elbow knocking against mine, turns the TV on, and keeps commenting on whatever he's watching. Generally, I stop writing and stare at him in disbelief, and he says "What? You can keep working, I don't mind."

. . .

Oh well, that's why I'm getting in the habit of distracting him with video games and then escaping to the nearest coffee shop. :p

When I'm writing, I don't get a thirst for anything normal and not distracting like water. Oh no. I get unquenchable thirsts for cracky Youtube videos like this and this. And then I have to watch them, over and over and over. *tears out hair*

Then there's the normal internet stuff. Oh, and things like siblings barging into my room and demanding that I cook them two-minute noodles and get picnic baskets full of spiderwebs down from places seven feet in the air. Because I am Super Elke and I can do these things, of course. o_0

My laptop just DELETED all of my JulNo files.
So I\'m starting again. :D

I have this insipid circuit of websites I visit, trolling for updates. It takes about five minutes to go through them all, and by then I'm ready for more updates, so I start all over again.

Internet, internet, internet. I don't care what site -- any site will do a great job of distracting me. Which is why it is extremely dangerous if I connect. Which is why I like the idea of going to the library to write, because it is quite and I don't have my internet with me and and yeah! It's just less distracting. You would think the books would distract me, but seeing as I can't leave my laptop unattended to go look through them all it works out quite well ;)

Other than that, I can pretty much avoid other means of distraction, if I must. MSN is a little distracting, but only if I have a conversation that is moving really quickly.

...Oh yeah, the internet is actually okay as long as I don't dare to open internet explorer, which is why I can go on MSN without getting insanely distracted *nods*

So I guess I'm lucky...though I do find myself staring off into oblivion constantly, without even realising it...

Make a playlist at playlist.com. You can put all the tracks you want to listen to on it, no commericals, and you won't be stuck listening to the same three songs over and over and over again.

Bats crawling OUT of my furnace to dive bomb me and drive me to cowering under my desk until I can get a clear run for the door to get my downstairs neghbor and his net to get it out.

Had my second one get in tonight, they've had 4 in one week downstairs!

They are cute.. unless they are flying around in MY apartment. Now I have to try to breathe again and stop shaking and jumping at every little sound.

Wikipedia, SomethingAwful forums, EVE Online. Obviously real world distractions, too.

Strangely enough, music facilitates my work, but I do tend to like more abstract music. I'm a big fan of di.fm and groovera.com (Low Mercury from Groovera is one of the best internet radio stations out there)

Mostly, though, I'm distracted by my unwillingness to write and my terrible tendency to procrastinate. I sit around and wait for a bug, blurt out 3000 in two hours, and then wait days or even weeks for it to hit again. WriMos are a little better, and I have the best luck with November.

You'll see me complaining in the last week about how I have 30,000 to write and then I'll get it all done in one or two days right at the end. :)

For me it is two things (and then some others that don't distract me while I'm writing but take away from the time I can write)

1. TV
2. These forums

Interestingly, I am currently trying to write and watching TV. I got both of my distractions in at once.

I probably will get distracted during this post as well but oh an ad with talking scuba gear!

Heh, definitely kept the game alive from what I hear, I tuned in after my main character stalled the story by doing something unplanned (somewhere in the 10th). But of course I'm a Sox fan, even before the 2004 season (although some would say I committed a slight against Red Sox Nation by marrying a Yankees fan).

Gasp, a Yankees fan!! *heart attack* It's alright, one of my really close fans is from Jersey and therefore a Yankees fan.
And yeah, I was rooting for them before '04. Actually, in '03 my whole family was on a cruise ship during the last game, and we were all sitting around (me and my brother standing just outside) of a bar. When aaron boone hit that homer, o my gosh, I almost jumped overboard. And my dad had called it like 3 seconds before. He had said "oh, yankees'll win with a walk-off homer." I was like "no they---WRY?!?!?!"
see? look that that distraction!!!

-The TV blaring from the other room
-Music that doesn't mesh with what I'm writing
-Car alarms going off outside
-The internet... mostly facebook. It calls to me.. about every two minutes.

-Ok but the worst thing is my sister. She does that Kramer thing, if you know what I mean. About 90 times a day, too. All of the sudden, BAM! The door is swung wide open and she staggers in suddenly, all like "hey guess what I took a picture of..." or "hey look at this..." hey hey hey hey hey!!!" or "hiya, biya!!" etc... by the 10th or 50th time I'm like wow, I need a lock on my door... and one that I don't end up giving to her!!!
