I kind of went to Chicago for the first week of July. That was slightly less than helpful, though I've actually written less since getting home than I did while I was there. My laptop monitor decided to completely crap out on me too, unfortunately, so I've been writing the whole of this on my Palm Treo. -_-

I have just met you and I love you.

I dreamed about the same thing the entire night and now my brain feels dead. Oh, and I wrote like 500 words yesterday. I think I'm only doing 50k this month, eh.

You DID?!?!?!?! I left Chicago on the 2nd. I did absolutely nothing on the 1st, except for an awards ceremony thing at the UIC Pavilion.

But Chicago was fun. I was there for a week, too. Went to the Sears Tower, the Museum of Science and Industry, plus some other things...

Yeah, count me in as massively behind... I doubt I'll catch up before July ends, but I'm not planning on giving up completely. For instance, I am totally on track to get 15,000 words. If I put in a little more effort, I could even get 20,000.

Also, stopping writing chapter one over and over again (and counting each version to my total, of course) and moving on to something more fun to write would probably help.

I've been playing catch-up since last wednesday and it hasn't been looking up. Everytime I sit down to write a piece of my story, I get distracted, or lost, or bored! @____@;; Now I'm so behind that I would have to write around 6k to catch up....maybe more.

Hey, something just occurred to me (this is how slow I am). After going through and reading all the posts in here, it seems like the problem has to do with your story instead of your writing habit. There are a lot of people saying "I'm stuck" and who don't know where to go next. So, why don't we make a topic where you can post where you are and what's bothering you, so the other writers can help?

...and he can do that, and she can do this, and he can react like that, and she can slap him, and he can yell at her, and then a dead body can come crashing through the ceiling... yippee! XD

Uck. I am a PROCRASTINATOR. And that is why I am behind. That, and the evil plotbunnies for other novels that attack me while I am trying to get something else done. The actual novel is fine, except it's about ten thousand words behind where it should be. :embarrassed:

Hahahaha :D You're behind? Sorry, don't mean to laugh at you, because in reality, you're doing wonderfully...compared to me, at least :P
My plot is also not really going anywhere, and what's worse--the end of July (like, the last two weeks or more) is going to be an EXTREMELY busy time for me, so I don't know if I can finish the challenge...:crying:

But good luck to you, anyway! ;)

That kind of sounds like me. I got a good start, but then I spent the past week on a trip where I had, say...NO time to write, and I'm still exhausted because we spent the week running from one place to another.

Hopefully, as long as I don't get forced to help my mother because my sister's too lazy to do anything, and I don't get distracted by the race, and as long as I can actually use MY computer, I may be able to catch up.

Ack! I tried writing so much today, and all I could pump out of myself was a sorry-ass, piddle 1,000 words!! >___<

I'm so disappointed in myself and my procrastination!! If I had just kept up with it, every single day, I wouldn't be sooooo far behind that by my "Report Card" Calculations I will be finished on August 26th!!!!!

*pets dragonrhapsody* It's alright. Hey, you got twice as many words (nearly three times as many words) as I do! I've been sitting here with my lap top on my lap trying to get...something...to come out, and nothing will. I've spent all day either on my NASCAR boards or at ToT.

Well, today I wrote for the first time since July 3rd. I got off track and never really got back on. But hope never dies - I can still do this! Anything's better than last summer, when I wrote exactly ZERO words during my break. I'm weird in that I actually write much better during the school year, so I'll be happy with any word count this summer.

YAY I'M BEHIND. I just didn't write for like a week for no reason whatsoever.

Now since apparently the internet works outside that makes everything cooler and I'll catch up.

ACK!! I am so behind now, and so unmotivated to try and write! @___@;; I probably won't make it again this year. My story has just totally fallen apart with nothing in it and I can't stand looking at it without feeling sick to my stomach for letting myself down and sad for the lack of plot and yayness to the whole story. GAAH!!

What can I do? Is there anything anyone can reccomend?! @___@;;;;

I'm new to all this, but it sounds like the fun has gone out of it for you, so I'd recommend that you stop beating yourself up about it :) What about giving your characters a "day out" where you don't tell them what they're going to be doing, they can come up with anything as silly as they like and you just write it down?

Not massively behind, exactly, but I was trucking along really well at first, and then I just kind of didn't write for two days, then I wrote one day and skipped another two...now I'm just barely on track to finish by the end of the month...and that's if I write every day. grar.

I pretty much haven't written anything in the past week and a half. Today is when i start trying to catch up, and realize just how screwed i am.

I hope my muse is nice to me.
