Why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends...

Here's a topic starter - because procrastination is my game of choice.

Favorite author:
Favorite book:
Favorite movie:
Favorite band/musician:
Favorite genre to write in:

I'll go first!

Favorite author: I love Gaiman, Bradbury... But I think the one who always grabs me would be Phillip K Dick.
Favorite book: The Iron Dragon's Daughter by Muchael Swanwick. All those interested in faerie, urban fantasy, mythology - do yourselves a favour.
Favorite movie: A toss up between Labyrinth and Blade Runner (directors cut)
Favorite band/musician: The Kinks and Bowie, though any BritRock from 1965 to 1971 will do.
Favorite genre to write in: I guess you'd call it parallel urban fantasy with a twist of action and a dash of human psychology.

Favorite author: Totally opposite genres / styles, but John Green and Stephen King are definitely my absolute favorites, with many others close to them. In fact, my avatar here is a King reference.
Favorite book: Looking for Alaska by John Green. Yes, it's classified as young adult, but it's one of those amazing books that really does transcend age. It seriously changed my life [in a good way] and I recommend it to everyone I know.
Favorite movie: Moulin Rouge. <3
Favorite band/musician: Always and forever the Backstreet Boys [but I do like other stuff, so don't judge too hard].
Favorite genre to write in: Romance / Chick Lit. [:

Favorite author: Jennifer Fallon or Jacqueline Carey. But really too many to count.
Favorite book: Finding Time by Jason A Grunewald. If anyone else has read it, please let me know, because I'd love to talk about it.
Favorite movie: The Princess Bride. Still looking for a group of people to play movie karaoke with me for it (can you believe I haven't found one yet?).
Favorite band/musician: WAY too many to count (but I'll probably be listening to a lot of Kamelot during JulNo).
Favorite genre to write in: Fantasy. Generally low-magic other-world fantasy, but I'm trying my hand with a bit more magic this year. Still not on earth though.

Favorite author: Probably either Jane Austen or E.M. Forster.
Favorite book: It was Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein for years, but alas, I fell hard for Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. Le sigh. XD
Favorite movie: Ugh, this is hard. I'd call it Casablanca on principle, but a film made more recently called Cabin in the Woods is what's going to get my final vote.
Favorite band/musician: I'm exceedingly fond of Deb Talan's solo work, and her work with her husband as the Weepies is also freaking gorgeous. <3
Favorite genre to write in: It's a toss-up between sci-fi and realistic fiction.

Favorite author: Probably J.R.R. Tolkien.
Favorite book: I'd have to say the Lord of the Rings trilogy, though I've also been getting into the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (got a LOT of catching up to do...) and I'm also a fan of The Iron Ring by Lloyd Alexander.
Favorite movie: It's a draw between Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (but not the remake...the remake has given me this immense hatred of Vince Vaughn), The Lion King (highlight of my childhood that wasn't based on a comic), and...looking at the above two categories...Lord of the Rings. Again.
Favorite band/musician: Hmm...I'm gonna go ahead and say Pink Floyd. Though I also listen to a good amount of music from anime and a bunch of classic rock. And musical soundtracks.
Favorite genre to write in: Sci-fi, fantasy, and horror. Not too big on writing romance or anything particularly realistic.

Favorite author: Douglas Adams

Favorite book: I only get to pick one? That's so unfair. Life without a constant stream of different books would be unbelievably depressing. Next you'll tell me I have to take that one book with me to a deserted island for the rest of my life or something. Yes, I know I picked a favourite author, but since he wrote more than one book it hasn't helped matters. I guess I'll go for The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul today.

Favorite movie: Event Horizon.

Favorite band/musician: This one I can do without any trouble: Dark Fortress. Listen to 'sycamore trees' at night with all the lights off and you'll understand why.

Favorite genre to write in: a blend of sci-fi and fantasy with occasional horror elements. You couldn't have guessed that from my author, book, movie and music preferences, could you?
