Comedy

Is anyone else writing a comedy? I'm just novelising Screnzy because I have no other plot. It most likely will not be sent to a publisher, but meh. I wanna do this!

I already put forward the idea that we should have a comedy genre, but I believe the forum mods in this contest are ignoring on purpose :crying:

Sorry--been away for the past week! I'm stickying this thread and adding it to the "official list". Thanks for starting the topic!

So, waterratsfan, are you still novelizing Script Frenzy, or have you come up with a different plot?

Novelising Screnzy and I have a few other ideas to slap in for word count. I'm really only doing this one for fun and to keep myself writing. My more serious novel that I have been trying to plan for several months is going to be my NaNo plot

Anvils rock. You can have a whole conversation about anvils. And I plan to in my novel.

I dunno. I guess I'm not creative enough about anvils. As far as I got to being creative was to have "caramel" be the code word for "oil" and that was from a dare...

But you can talk about where they come from, where they've gone, why they are there, etc etc...*looks around* well, I've lost it! :P

OK, this is what I have so far:

As the first unsuspecting library patron of the day entered the Bibliophile Library, the anvil that hung from the roof began to swing. The young woman looked up, her red tresses almost touched the floor as her mouth and eyes widened.
“Anyone know what an anvil is doing hanging from the ceiling?” she asked out loud. She stood in the pathway as a gaggle of school children piled into the library for their early morning class that ran from seven thirty until ten.
“Haha! Now, we may start, Green!” Pink cackled loudly. “It’s so quiet, I could hear a pin drop.”
As if on cue, Purple dropped a pin from the height that she was at. It whistled through the air and did several somersaults before landing on the desk in the librarian, Ms. Hoggledegoof’s hand. Pinpricks of blood dripped from the tiny wound into the crevices in her wrinkled, gnarly hand. The waterfall of blood started to trickle slowly onto the desk, and its pace became a little faster.
“A pin dropped into your hand!” A little boy with blondish hair said loudly. “HAHAHA. She’s got a pin in her hand!”
“Richard, be quiet!” the teacher ordered. Her lank brown hair was tied up into a pony tail as she tried to keep the five and six year olds under control as she led them to their tables. The young woman followed absently.
“Ready?” Pink asked.
“Ready,” Blue, Green, Orange and Purple replied. Each was jiggling a water bomb. Pink scoured the library.
“Go!” Water bombs flew through the air. Anvils fell. Books were pulled off the shelves. And a chair was thrown out the nearest window. Glass shattered and the books were sprayed with glass.

A book soared through the air. It whistled shrilly as pages flickered rapidly in flight. The mottled green leather cover flapped against the pages violently and a waterfall of silver and gold sparks dribbled out. Pink frowned at the sparks as they began to form a figure. Blue arched an eyebrow, a water bomb ready to be fired as the figure started to fill out into its full formation.
“Who the hell is that?” the young woman from earlier asked as she stared in awe at the shimmering figure like the young kids around her. The book circled and dropped onto a table, cover up.
“The Idiot’s Who’s Who of Greek Mythology by Dun See,” she read out. The tall, alabaster skinned figure had a mop of golden hair that travelled in a pathway down her semi-naked back as a sheer white dress floated around her slender form. A hush fell over the library; another anvil suspended above a computer on the mezzanine floor creaked. The figure turned. Her mouth was wide open in awe. Pink, Purple, Blue, Green and Orange stared at her as they held their weapons.
“Is that…” Orange began.
“I think it is!” Green replied excitedly.
“Nah, it can’t be!” Blue said in disbelief.
“Who?” Pink asked.
“You’re kidding us, right?” Purple was sarcastic. Helen of Troy. She turned and looked around.
“Oh my, this definitely isn’t where my dear Menelaus lives!” Helen’s hands travelled to her mouth and she clasped at her gown. “Oh please send me back! The last time I was gone from him I spent ten years away from his side.” She knelt on the wet carpet. “Oh please send me back to Lacedaemon, back to my family!” she wailed loudly as an anvil swung above the floor. The string that was holding it up snapped, and it fell. The anvil howled as it fell.
“Oh the primainity! I’m being used in a library riot. Whatever happened to being used as a prop in The Mattress That Would Not Leave My Truck?”
Pink cackled like a witch around a cauldron as the anvil fell and crashed into the floor, right down to the core of the Earth. Lava spewed up and littered the library, creating a waterfall of lava down the stairs to the lower level. Orange’s blue eyes lit up.
“Lavaslide!” he squealed as he ran to it. Purple and Green exchanged glances of worry and awe.
“Orange, I wouldn’t--” Blue began as Orange approached the lavaslide.
“Not a good idea to--” Pink added as Orange sat at the top. “Oh boy.”
“Oh boy is right,” Purple said. “He did it.” They watched Orange slide down the lava-covered stairs. Orange rolled around in the lava.
“This is fun! You should try it!” he splattered a few little kids with the lava as he slid. “Weeeeeeeeee! Oh, whoops!” he said as liquid trickled out his lycra body suit. Helen of Troy wrinkled her nose at the chaos.
“Oh Zeus have mercy upon our souls! Oh Pallas Athena, aid me in getting home from this wretched place!” Helen wailed loudly.

Wow so much dialogue...*speechless for a few moments* it's so cool how the characters' names are colors. Hehe. But why didn't you describe Helen of Troy? Like is she in modern clothes or in a toga, whatever it's called?

Ooooh good point. Well, one argument can be that I am following the tack of the ancients. See, she was the so beautiful that they never described her. I never got this finished last month, but I might be able to find a spare minute if I stop sleeping and eating, lol.
