Anyone else struggling with plot?

I was looking over the plot outline for my JulNo novel this year (written in bullet points; I'm very professional) and I had a sudden gripping fear that what I was writing wouldn't be able to last until the 50,000 word mark.

Has this happened to anyone, this year or in years previous? What are doing about it, or what did you do? Any success stories? I'm anxious to hear them!

Have you tried going to the Dares Thread and taking some of the dares from there?

They may make your novel sort of silly, but remember - this is only a first draft. :)

My problem is finishing the novels. I can never end them it seems. But the Dare Threads are a good way to get your WC up. :D

Yes, it happened last month. I had the whole thing planned out chapter by chapter, and I was looking at it, I thought, "Shoot. This isn't going to be enough."

So I went nerd and calculated how many words I would have to have per chapter to make it to 50k. It was 3000. No biggy.

Along the way some point, there were scenes I didn't want to write at the time, or ended up being too short and stuff. I finished my novel at 45k. So I went back, embellished some scenes, added scenes, explained some backstory, and made it to 50k.

I'm sure you'll do fine.

You're all ahead of me...I just have the plot planned out in giant paragraphs that say "this will happen then this then this and this is why this makes sense" etc. I think mine will reach around 45000 words then I will freak out and write the major climactic moments in the remaining 5000 words :D

But tenth, you already have a novel under your belt, so you shouldn't be worried! You have more experience than people like meeeee

I'm actually worried my story won't hit 25k words, though I normally leave it open to interpretation and let what wants to come forth come. I'm not one for setting out solid plots.

I had that happen last year. Usually, I just make sure I put in a lot of useless filler stuff and describe things way too much. XD And having characters do random things helps too. That worked pretty good.

Plot? What's that? Oh, wait...plots are those things that stick their tongues out at me and laugh...

Seriously, plots are something I'm very bad at and always find a struggle. I do scenes great. Plots? Bah! I suck.
