What are you doing?

I'm not the only one lurking here. I know I'm not. Let's chat.

Tell us what you're doing this very moment, besides "posting here" and "replying to this thread".

I am writing a partial history of a fictional war to help myself with my JulNo.

Fictional war? Ooh, who between!

I'm editing my NaNo from last year and trying to finish up preparations to get it printed!

or well that'd be the best case scenario. I'm in a chatroom with a couple friends ignoring the open word file.

Uh, not much really. I kinda have a headache right now, otherwise I'd probably be jammin' to some awesome music. Besides that, I'm just talking to some friends through MSN and playing Akinator for the first time in a very long time.

I'm just totally creeping on this thread, listening to the soundtrack from Labyrinth, and wondering why I'm not writing something.

The Dutch (and as per usual, that means the Germans, or rather the Prussians leading a German confederacy) versus America over part of what's currently Canada.

Alternate history woo yeah.

Sometimes I think that alternate history is the best kind of history. But anyway, that sounds very interesting!

It's not terribly relevant to the actual story, but it does help me know where the main character is deployed and what's being fought over. Since the story's set in 1875, I can also use material from, um, my favorite war: the Civil War.

And make stuff up with a free hand, since it's alternate history :3

The Civil War was an awesome war. In that it was fascinating. Not that it was awesome, because war isn't awesome, but it was...oh, never mind >.<
One of my favorite parts of writing is coming up with the backstory of my characters and the history of wherever I'm writing about. Half of the time it's stuff no one will ever know, but it is still key in shaping the story.

And then suddenly it was midnight x.x

Yeah, the Civil War is probably the war that interests me most.

I've considered majoring in history to get more in-depth study of areas that weren't covered in the classes I've taken so far -- in school we got so much of the Civil War I could just scream. I'm a nerd, what can I say.

Also I don't sleep, ever, omg.

I have to say that I am most fascinated with the Revolutionary War and World War II. But I still love studying the Civil War, in part because I love Abraham Lincoln.

A history major is a pretty solid major to consider. I have quite a few history major friends, and they love it. Being a nerdy history buff rocks.

That sounds really rather interesting. -Isn't usually a history fan-

As for what I'm doing right now - I'm watching 'Cold Case' and considering finishing off my story entry for the competition they're cyrrently running over on WriYe. Also, drinking Cream Soda. ^^

As this seems to be just a general chat thread I'll close it. Please use the on-going chat thread at the top of the board, High School JulNo'ers 2011 (and, no, you don't need to be in high school to post there - I'm not), instead for general conversation. :)
