JulNoWriMo 2011 Spreadsheet

Adapted from the original NaNoWriMo Spreadsheet, the JulNoWriMo spreadsheet is back!

Here is the updated spreadsheet for 2011. You can use it to set daily goals for the month of July and chart your progress--it's really pretty nifty. :)

http://julnowrimo.com/julno-report-card2011.xls

There will also be a link to it from the main web site in July. Tell your friends!

Very niffy.

I have one problem with it though, it is not compatible with my exel-program (Mac-user) so I can't save it :-/

I've got a Mac, and it worked just fine. It's an xls file, which is typical excel across the board. Unless it's an xlsx which is a 2010 excel file, then you need the upgrade, but in this case, you should be fine. Do you not have Excel at all?

I can open it fine, and work in it, I just can't save it unless I alter the format. It says I need to save it as an xlsx to keep all the formatting, but I can't find xlsx any place. From what I can see, the problem is that Excel for Windows uses a different format for dates than Excel for Mac

Go ahead and copy-paste the error message you're getting here so we can see exactly what the computer says is an error. It seems to me like Macs (as usual) are not backwards-compatible with Excel files, but I may be mistaken.

I think that is the problem, yes.

I am not quite sure how to translate the message - it is in my native language.

Edit: I found out how to save it in a compateble format. Thanks

Hi JSBulldog89
Thanks for sharing this spreadsheet. Very helpful, and seems to be working just fine on my Mac, other than missing a few fonts (but that isn't a big deal). I like that you included hours and morale in addition to wordcount. Now to add in number of forum posts and hours there to curb that special NaNo procrastination so many of us (myself included) are good at! ;-)

PS - I cannot take the credit for this! Someone else created it for NaNoWriMo - it has merely been adapted over the years. Credits are in the file.

I downloaded the spreadsheet and yet i cannot understand how to work it for this month. I know i am supposed to edit the orange columns like it says at the beginning of the spread sheet.

However, i do not know how it counts the words automatically done. Or shows their counted since i just started writing and posting my word count today. I was wondering if you can explain to me how it works so i can understand it better and work with it as i write please.

Here's an example spreadsheet. I literally only filled out the orange sections in rows 11, 12, and 13 and all of the other statistics were automatically generated.

I hope this information helps, as I'm not really sure I understood what you were wanting to know.
