So what are you writing?

I ask because I'm nosy :P

July falls right in the middle of the Clarion Write-a-thon, so I'll be working on a Steampunk Western novella that currently doesn't have a title.

How about everyone else?

Personally, I haven't decided yet. Something Zombie related, since it is Zombie July... But other than that? No idea.

Zombie July? Cool - I have sort of zombies (spirit-animated corpses) in my novel.

The MC hunts them down and dispatches them by cutting of their heads with a silver bound sword.

Wow interesting

So far at this point i'm leaning towards writing a novel adaptation of the 60's tv series Get Smart.

Which is about these secret agents from a government organization known as control whom are trying to stop the evil organization known as Kaos. It takes place during the cold war. Its sort of a spy spoof.ABSOLUTELY NO!!! RELATION TO JAMES BOND The main character is agent 86 aka Maxwell Smart. He's not the brightest and is clumsy to boot a underdog no doubt but he always comes out on top.

Steve Corel and Ann Hathaway stared in the Remake that came out a couple years ago. Playing Max formerly played by the late but great Don Adams :crying:
he no doubt will be missed. and agent 99.

So July will be Spy July for me

I'd really like to write a piece of original fiction this year. Last November I wrote a huge chunk of my most current HP fanfiction novel. But my fiancÚ keeps trying to get me to move away from that and write my own stuff.

So, this year I've got a bit of a dark romance planned. I hope it doesn't end up too depressing. >.<

I've got a fantasy novel to finish (its what I got 39k in last JulNo) and once that is finished my first murder mystery novel. I'm hoping to get a large chunk of the murder mystery done this year. Last year JulNo really got me writing. I might also be doing a June writing month so we shall see. But my fantasy is almost finished so I am going to start preparing now for the mystery.

Goals for JulNoWriMo 2011:

Babbett - fantasy novel
The Murderous Misadventures of Mel Mary - murder mystery

Hm, I might not be writing that Steampunk Western after all... depends on how loud the characters for the Sci Fi that plonked itself in my head get by the middle of June.

At least it has a title

I am writing a large fanfiction story at the moment. Or, have been writing for about one and a half year and just finished the first part. It was my project last year - a bit more than one third of the first part was written last JuNo - so I plan to write on part two this year. First book is not completely edited, but will be around 130 000 words long, and I plan for the parts to be roughly the same size. So this year's project will be to write more on part 2. It took me abut 1 1/2 year to write that much with the JuNo to help me along, so I guess I need that help this year as well. ;)

It is a LotR-fanfiction, and alternate universe where Sauron regained his Ring, and this part will tell about some of the people that ended up in Mordor as prisoners. So it is a bit dark.:-/

I have a lot of the plot figured out, but there is a sub-plot I want to fit in that I am not as sure about how to do it. And I have a title for the whole story, so far the individual parts, or books, does not. I don't think I will name them.

If I can avoid using it for WriDaNoJu, I'll be writing about an author with writer's block who thinks she's being stalked by her MC and turns out to be right...

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to write out this one idea I've had for a while. There are three people, all serial killers, and they live in different places, all are different ages, and their lives collide together. After that they are really changed (as much as a soul-less killer can be), and then it's going to end somehow. xD I've got this really complicated plot diagram written down in one of my school notebooks. Ahaa. c: My cheesy title atm is Collide, don't worry, that's going to change eventually. XD
[edit] I just realized that this is the adult forum, and I'm so not an adult. Aha, that's what I get for randomly clicking on forum tabs. XD

I'm basically writing the diary of a wannabe politician, a fourteen-year-old New York kid. It'll go through his entire high school career--from July 2000 to June 2004, so it'll cover 9/11--and it's going to be written entirely in haiku. This is gonna be interesting...

I'm going to be doing WriDaNoJu and JulNoWriMo in tandem. Between June and July I want to write 100,000 words. It may turn into one novel of my planned eight part series or more than one novel of my planned eight part series but it is going to be there.

It's going to be a fantasy about a girl who realizes she's been chosen. In each book I am decidedly introducing a new important character. The first one is just about my main character and her struggle with learning her abilities and strength and the death of her parents and the evil things that keep attacking her. And depending on my muse and where I get in my novels the next one will be introducing her love interest....unfortunately they won't be getting together until the last novel or so.

I'm making a second attempt at a Victorian sensation novel pastiche, though I'm hoping this one will have both a stronger plot and better characterisation than my 2009 NaNovel. I adore the genre, but it annoys me that though there's almost always a strong intelligent female character, it's always the insipid fainting blossom who gets the guy in the end. I got so bored of my first one that I killed her off with Mysterious Victorian Heroine Wasting Disease three chapters from the end to leave the way clear for my Marian Halcome expy to marry the hero. This time I'm being even meaner - my vision of loveliness will be dying abandoned, disgraced and poverty stricken, leaving an apparently illegitimate child, about halfway through if not sooner.
Expect blackmail, forgery, bigamy, estranged families, secrets and mystery :D

So, I stumbled upon my draft of my NaNo from last year, which I abandoned early on. I discovered that I still loved the idea, and am reworking my outline and characters so that when July rolls around I will be all ready to start writing.

(probably good that I am not doing my initial JulNo idea, because the plotting was turning into a Patricia C. Wrede book. I love Patricia C. Wrede, but I don't want to copy her!)

I'm currently working on (read: started but abandoned) several different ideas, including my NaNo SF time travel/alternate universe story, a Harry Potter fanfiction, etc. I'm going to be doing something different for JulNo, though.

It takes place in Storyland, where stories are made. The evil Ineffable Wizard takes over the leader, the Narrator, and imprisons him, because the wizard wants all the stories for himself. It's up to the MCs (TBD) to rescue the Narrator and restore peace.

Anyone, really. It's got real humans, and magic ones. It's a meta story world, so it's got EVERYTHING mashed up together. It's just that I have more than one character buzzing around in my head wanting to be the MC, so I have to eliminate them somehow. :-/

sounds cool agent double oh zero the more i hear about it the more i'm interested in the idea. The plot kind of reminds me of the rocky and bullwinkle movie. Fearless leader had a similar idea that the wizard is trying to accomplish.

Me i changed my idea again for what i was planing to write i thought i was going to write the prequel to my NaNo but then i got an idea for my Wingman saga but again it changed and i thought i was going to do a revival of Get Smart then i thought i was going to try something else but now i think i know what i'm going to do. Its called the conspiracy at the moment. it is based around National incidents that have occured all over the world over the years. More specifically the conspiracy's based around the deaths of different political rulers. I'm creating sort of a dues ex machina type of thing. I really like this idea i hope the thoughts keep flowing about it

I want to write something based on a vague idea I had for NaNoWriMo but didn't end up using because I was too busy to do NaNoWriMo.

I want the story to be focused around "mind-reading" technology and brain-computer interfaces, things like these Wikipedia articles could help explain:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_computer_interface
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thought_identification

I love dystopian novels, so I'm thinking I'll have a sort of dystopia in which this sort of technology is very commonplace and can be misused.

I know that's pretty vague. I'm hoping to find out more about my story as I write it. I tried writing a beginning for it although I know it can't go towards the word count, to see what would happen. In the beginning I wrote a character's sister talks about a brain implant she has and tells her brother he should get "plugged in" "like everyone else". I'm thinking I could bring social networking to the extreme into the story along with brain technology...being hooked to the Internet straight through the brain...things like that...

If anyone knows of any fiction that uses such themes I'd love to hear recommendations for what to read and/or watch. This page lists some:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Brain-computer_interfa...

I think I'll watch "Ghost in the Shell" for some inspiration as I've heard it's good and it seems to relate to my theme.
