The WoD Temple

WoD. The JulNoer's god. (Not really, guys, I don't suggest worshiping idols! It's an expression!)

Don't know what it is? WoD stands for Write or Die. It's a website that basically forces words out of you, no matter how much you think you can't write any more. It's rather ideal for a competition like JulNo.

Click here to check out the awesomeness of WoD! :D

The web version really helped me on my novel last julno and last nano it even helped me during script frenzy which might sound a bit surprising at first thought

Glad to find some other worshipers!! :D I loooooove WoD! I too have the desktop version. I can write twice the amount of words in an hour than I do on my own. I need the pressure of that annoying sound and scary blinking red screen!!

If you guys haven't experienced it yet I warn you, you may become addicted!!

I think I'm gonna purchase WoD. I used it a few times and last year, I managed to churn out 6k words in an afternoon which is really good for me.

I decided to buy it because 1) the money goes to a good cause and 2) I like all of the added features. Plus 10 bucks isn't bad

WoD is fantastic. That being said, with my eight month-old, I don't think it would be wise for me to use if for my writing anytime soon because I'd just lose everything!

Happy writing!

I love Write or Die, but it somehow lied to me and this made me very sad :(

It told me that the word count I had done was actually more than what I had actually done

I haven't been on the online version in over a year but I do know with the desktop paid version you can change the settings. I just have it so it plays annoying sounds (including a baby crying) when I stop writing. You can also choose to have a message pop up and say something along the lines of 'Keep Writing.' And with the desktop version it saves a copy of everything you write, in case for whatever reason it does get erased. :)

Okay, so they do have a pop-up. That's good. I wondered (especially since the speakers, well.....)

I worked with this for a bit, but I had already written a good amount of words and saved them to a different file entirely. I have developed a compulsive Ctrl+S habit every other sentence or so, and I also tab at the beginning of each paragraph. It kind of made it difficult to keep up my normal flow when I was being sent to the 'Done' button or pulling up the save window every few seconds. I finally just pasted the entire mess and saved it in my word processor and will be filing this away for a use at a future date. =0)

That's very similar to what I do. My computer has this nasty little bad habit of restarting on me at random. Luckily it only tends to happen when I am watching a video or listening to music so I make sure I'm not when I write. But I often just keep a notepad open and pull it up real quick, copy and paste everything in, and save. I tab and have never had any issues with it... I use the paid desktop version though so that might be the difference.
