Bringing it all together
I have been writing in segments based on my plot outline about 7 or 8 of them, which I have enjoyed writings. Gives me a sense that my story is
preceding along quiet nicely. However I now have to connect them together and frankly I can't find the motivation to do so.
My problem is I ramble and for some reason it takes me forever to get one plot point to another. I feel like I just throw stuff that has no point into
the story which causes me to go why in the world did I write that. Leading a maze of paths instead of a straight one.
Should I just continue on with writing whatever comes to mind between the plot points even if it's just a mess of nothingness and worry about editing
later? I'm afraid if I do that I might not ever get around to completely editing because it's made no sense leading up to my good parts.
Or should I plan out the transitions a little better in hopes that I can find a way to flow it better? Which leads into the fact that they will be no
way of hitting my word count?
Anyone else having this issue?

I do the same thing as well. I do a vague outline of things that need to happen, then even more details get crammed in as characters start
acting on their own. (My stories are always full of details.) I never realized just how many scenes I can cram into a day's length in the story until
my girlfriend and I wrote a story side by side. They were two separate stories that took place during the same timeline. My story became twice the
length of hers just because I always add in extra scenes.
Write whatever comes to mind. Anything that adds to the word count is a good thing, right? From a writing perspective, I think that it's better to write additional scenes and cut them out later, as opposed to
the opposite. It's easier to see whether the scene is (un)necessary when it's there. Afterwards, you can decide if the scene fits the story or to cut
it out, rather than wondering what it would've looked like had it been in the story.
I get bogged down in details as well. My advice is that if you're absolutely bogged down in the plot, it may be better to sit down and get a general
idea of where the story's going. No worries about getting everything perfect. This is the first draft after all. Don't worry about editing right now.
Just enjoy the ride.
Just my two cents.

Thanks! Basically exactly what I needed to hear. As I began connecting my plot points I realize that there will be lots of editing. So I am trying to
be careful in reading what I already have written. Guess I'll be surprise in the first full read through. Lol.
Though my word count is struggling but that's just because it's hard to sit down and write right now.
