Changing Directions

Recently, I had a little book-epiphany, about where my novel is going to go. I'm going to incorporate a little magic, running from power-hungry guys who want to use said magic, and a bunch of other, cool stuff. The only problem is that I'm already 8k into my novel xD So, basically, would a 9k introduction be annoying for you? It's not all that boring, just a little pointless, I guess, as I could have said the same things in much fewer words.

So, what do I do?

The Diary - 26,086/26,086
Of Purple Ducks and Social Workers - 21,066/21,066
Bee Back Soon - 2,874/2,848k
TOTAL: 50,026/50,000k
WORDS UNTIL 50k: 0k! :D :D HURRAY! My first WriMo, too.

Stick with it for now, you need the words. Don't worry about how long or pointless it is, just keep going.

Then edit it out or change it when you go back and do the second draft.

I totally agree. If nothing else you could incorporate the introduction into the story, as a history lesson or something.

Definitely. Keep it till August then rewrite it. A "pointless" as you say 9K intro would annoy me very much, to be honest. But it's JulNo, and pointless doesn't matter here :)

I think a 9k intro is just fine actually, I added new characters yesterday.
Things that don't feel write always get blow away while editing.
Type how ever you feel that's the best way to finish the story.
