Dance

In my story I'm about to get to the part where my MC is being taught how to be a sword dancer. I know stretches rather well but how do I teach dance? I have no dance experience and I'm not sure what to say. Does anyone know how they teach girls how to dance? Ball, jazz, tap, ballet, salsa, I don't care, she needs to learn it all.

I've had about 16 years of dance training in ballet, tap, and jazz. With all three, you usually start with a routine of stretches and warm-up exercises. For ballet, it's a lot of exercises at the barre, warming up the tendons in your feet, balances, and leg lifts/kicks. The other half of class is then spent in center working on combinations or turns, and there is usually some time for leaps down the floor. Tap is pretty much the same thing - you start with a lot of isolated motions, and then you move into the faster and fancier stuff as the class progresses, and ending with a combination.

Is that the sort of thing you're looking for? Hope that helps a bit. There are quite a few ballet term dictionaries online, and quite a few have pictures/videos with them as examples. Good luck!

Yeah, for the actual details I'll just fade to the next scene. :) It helps to cheat. Thanks a ton though.
