Setting the Mood

How do you 'set the mood' in order to write certain scenes? For sad scenes do you write in different places? Maybe have different playlists of music to listen to?

Music definitely helps. Sometimes it also helps to read the right kind of book before starting to write, though you have to be careful so you don't kill your own imagination and just copy what you've read... ;)
Apart from that I just try to feel with my characters - to BE my characters as much as possible-, if they're sad I'm sad, too. Scenes with many characters with different emotions can be quite demanding though.
