Procrastinating already

Well, it's official. JulNo has started and I'm already procrastinating. Mostly due to my laptop keep crashing when I try to save in anything but "my documents" To be fair though I do have 1131 words already and almost 7 hours left at work to get more so maybe it's not too terrible.
Anyone else procrastinating at this early stage?

Me too. XD I actually stayed up last night to work on the stupid story... but I got distracted 'till 1, then went to write on the couch with my laptop and got distracted again by tv. So in the end I fell asleep on the couch at 3 am with 300 words written. And I've been up for an hour and a half and haven't even touched the story.

How come when you can't write you're absolutely itching to do so, but when you CAN write you're like 'meh, I'll do it later'?

Yeah, I get that too. If I'm working days I can't write so of course all I want to do is write. When I'm on nights (or weekend days) then I just think 'oh, it'll wait till later' and later never comes.

I didn't know how to start mine either so I just um...started. The beginning is rubbish *quickly hits internal editor over the head and ties him up* but it's words after all. Only problem is, my character isn't grouchy enough anymore! :crying:

Start writing bored bored bored bored bored. Works for me, I soon get bored of writing bored and other words come out. Less expensive than breaking the computer by throwing something at it. Good luck with starting anyway. Know what it's like to sit staring at a blinking cursor on an empty screen :(

The main reason I'm procrastinating on JulNo is that I've told myself I can't work on that until I read the 5 or 6 journal articles I meant to read yesterday. Once I'm done working on my presentation (which I have to give on Tuesday) I will be free to write as much as I care to.

Stiiiill haven't started, and I'm down to 1:45 before my first day ends. :X To be fair, it's not totally my fault... I had a graduation party to go to, and then my mom sprung her big "plan" for the long weekend: clear out and completely paint my bedroom, then redesign it and move everything back in.

Yeah. I should be glad my job hours suck so completely bad this month. Maybe I'll be able to catch up. -__-;

I have just met you and I love you.

I hadn't any problems starting the whole thing. I just sat down and wrote. Well, made 5778 words in two days, and though I have enough time to write more today, I stopped. Tomorrow is another day, and 3254 words is enough for today. I believe I'll make it, and my goal for tomorrow is to write 2500 words. It'll be fine. I love writing :D. Can't do anything, can't see anything and can't hear anything without thinking: 'would this work in my novel?'

I'm going okay I think, but I frequently take breaks, which is probably very bad.

Well, writing today has been like pulling teeth. Everything I've written sounds forced (it was!) but hey, it can be edited when July's over :) I'm around 4.5k now so ahead up to now.

When I was in the November nanowrimo I had a couple of story ideas, one had been semi-plotted out and the other not at all. I chose the one that wasn't plotted and only managed 3 pages and that was it. I spent most of June getting the semi-plotted one more plotted out and now when I started it all just seemed to flow.

Either that I was just more motivated this time around :D

vitamin_D: Have you tried any word wars on the chat room? Sometimes just the competition can get the words flowing! You want to come out as the winner, so it's a time for writing--no matter how crappy it seems.

I'm procrastinating too! I had some vague ideas about story line. And what's odd is that i kept thinking to myself, "Cool, I can't wait until July to start my novel." And yet, i never planned ANYTHING! That is so me. lol So, i started with a simple sentence about the weather and off i went. I have very little written so far and have put it off all day even though i've had plenty of time.

I was finding it hard to get started, so instead right now I'm focusing more on the ending. I probably shouldn't, though.

Well, I'm thinking I'm a little ahead for today, but I have a Christening to go to tomorrow, so I want to get more done today to make up for it.

AHHH!!!! I have so much to write, but I keep procrastinating. I can't even count the number of times that I have checked my e-mail or cruised through MSN to see if there has been anything updated in the last half hour. Now, I am procrastinating by writing this reply :-) Well, hopefully I can settle down soon and write the 2K that I wanted to do today to attempt to catch up somewhat!
