When the Blacksmith is requested by the Council of Ministers to track down a missing artifact, the bounty hunter figures it will bring in some easy money without having to kill anybody. But the search leads to the lawless mechanical necropolis at the heart of the Eight Cities, and the Blacksmith discovers that finding the artifact let alone staying alive becomes anything but simple.
