| Short Biography: |
I have written in a haphazard fashion since I was young and have the embarrassing pre-adolescent poetry and desperate journal entries to prove it. I have been a devout, if not methodical, journaleer for most of my life. I am an occasional poet and enjoy letter writing and wrote autobiographical allegories based on my experiences. I have always felt that I needed to write a novel length story and fell into the habit of developing background materials for my "someday" ambition. After thousands and thousands of words, I came to realize two things: though the volume of material was impressive, it was paramount to avoidance behavior—I think I was afraid to start in case I couldn’t finish—and that as a result of indulging it to the extreme, I had become addicted to world building for its own sake. A two years ago in August, I came to the conclusion, it was "now or never” and time to "put up or shut up." Since then I have been pursuing my ambition with a vengeance, writing short-stories, vignettes and one-scene shorts. The JulNoWriMo is a final test to prove to myself I can produce a novel length manuscript. |
